Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in the blockbuster films Jawan and Dunki. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting to see the King of Bollywood back on the big screen. The actor has confirmed that he’s teaming up once again with Pathaan director Siddharth Anand for a new project. Titled King, the movie has already created a lot of buzz, especially because it marks the first on-screen collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan.
While the film has not been officially announced with full details, reports suggest that it will also star Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma in key roles. However, not much else is confirmed, and the production team has been tight-lipped about the storyline and cast.
Film Shooting Delayed Till July
According to recent updates, ‘King’ will not begin shooting until July or August. One of the reasons behind the delay is that Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly not fully happy with the script just yet. A source told Mid-Day that the scripting process is still ongoing and the team is taking extra care to get it just right.
“Scripting is going on. The makers want to ensure they have a terrific script at hand before the camera starts rolling. King not only sees Suhana coming on the big screen for the first time but also features the father-daughter duo together. Keeping these factors in mind, Shah Rukh wants the team to take their time to polish the material and deliver an ambitious movie,” the source was quoted as saying.
The goal is to present a high-quality film, especially since it’s Suhana Khan’s debut on the silver screen alongside her father.
Shah Rukh Khan to Play an Assassin?
Early reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan will play the role of an assassin, while Suhana Khan will portray his protege, learning the ropes from him. On the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan is rumored to be playing the main villain in the film. These character details have not yet been confirmed by the team.
Is Deepika Padukone Part of ‘King’?
Recently, there were strong rumors that Deepika Padukone would be playing the role of Suhana Khan’s mother in the movie. However, director Siddharth Anand took to social media to shut down the speculation. He tweeted “False” shortly after the news about Deepika broke, and then followed it up the next day with another tweet saying “Again, False.”
Although he didn’t mention King or Deepika directly, the timing of his tweets has led many to believe that he is referring to the casting rumors surrounding the film. It seems like the team wants to keep all the key details under wraps for now.
