When you think of Demi Moore, you probably picture her in hit movies like Ghost or G.I. Jane. But behind the scenes, she has a surprising passion—collecting dolls. Not just any dolls—rare, antique, and artist-made dolls that are so special, they’ve been insured for a whopping $2 million.

Moore, now 62, owns over 2,000 dolls, and her love for collecting them started with a single gift. Her former husband, actor Bruce Willis, gave her a porcelain doll with lifelike features. That one doll sparked a deep interest that turned into a full-blown obsession.

Over time, Moore’s collection grew quickly. After she and Willis divorced, she kept adding to her collection at a rapid pace. In fact, her doll hobby grew so large that she had to dedicate an entire house just to store them. That’s right—her dolls got their own home!

These aren’t the kind of dolls you find on just any shelf. Many of them have glass eyes, real hair, and detailed clothing. Some are so old and rare that they are considered valuable antiques. One of her favorites is the Gene Marshall fashion doll—a glamorous 15.5-inch figure dressed in clothing inspired by Hollywood movies from the 1930s to the 1950s.

In a 2019 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Moore explained what draws her to dolls and figurines. “I love figurative art,” she said. “When I look at the little faces of the things I have—whether they’re little animals or something else—they make me feel good. I’m always surrounded by little faces looking at me.”

She even carries tiny toys with her while traveling. “If you look at my carry-on bag, I have a little bear and a little Dil Pickles from Rugrats,” she said. “I usually have a monkey in my purse too. I started with one I call ‘purse monkey.’”

To Demi, these aren’t just toys. They’re meaningful objects that bring her joy and remind her to stay playful and creative. But not everyone shares her love for dolls. Her ex-husband Ashton Kutcher admitted he was totally creeped out by her massive collection. “They upset me—I saw Chucky! These things freak me out, man,” he joked on Conan O’Brien. “She’s got thousands of them. They’re everywhere—and they’re freaky!”

Despite the mixed reactions, Demi never stopped collecting. In fact, she embraced her hobby even more. The New York Times once called her “the world’s most high-profile doll collector”—a title she wears with pride.

At an age when many people start to slow down, Moore is still embracing the things that make her happy. Her story proves that dolls aren’t just for kids. They can be art, memories, and even a source of comfort. Demi Moore’s one-of-a-kind collection reminds us all that being playful never goes out of style.
