Robinhood, starring Nithiin and Sreeleela in the lead roles, has turned out to be one of the biggest box office disappointments in recent times. Despite being released with decent expectations and a strong promotional campaign, the film failed to impress both critics and audiences. After completing 8 days in theaters, the movie has been declared a disaster, struggling to even cross the 15 crore mark worldwide.
Poor Reception & Negative Reviews
Written and directed by Venky Kudumula, Robinhood is a Telugu heist action-comedy. Unfortunately, the film received mostly negative reviews from critics right from day one. Audience feedback wasn’t any better either. Many viewers criticized the film for weak writing, poor execution, and a lackluster storyline. As a result, word-of-mouth promotion was extremely poor, which severely affected the film’s box office performance.
Disappointing Start at the Box Office
Robinhood had a slow opening at the box office. On its first day in India, it collected just ₹2.30 crores net. Expectations were that it would pick up over the weekend, but that never happened due to the overwhelming negative buzz. The film continued to struggle throughout the week.
As per the latest box office data from Sacnilk, Robinhood has collected ₹10.64 crores net in India. When taxes are included, the Indian gross collection stands at ₹12.55 crores.
Overseas Collections & Worldwide Total
The movie didn’t fare any better in overseas markets either. It managed to earn only ₹1.55 crores gross from international screens. With this, the film’s total worldwide collection after 8 days stands at a disappointing ₹14.10 crores gross.
Here’s a detailed breakdown of the 8-day worldwide box office collection:
- India Net Collection: ₹10.64 crores
- India Gross Collection: ₹12.55 crores
- Overseas Gross Collection: ₹1.55 crores
- Worldwide Gross Total: ₹14.10 crores
A Big Blow for Nithiin
What makes the failure of Robinhood even more shocking is its reported budget. The film was made on a whopping ₹70 crore budget. Given the current trend, the movie is expected to earn just another ₹2-3 crores more in the coming days and will wrap up its run below ₹20 crores worldwide. This makes Robinhood a massive disaster, and a major setback for Nithiin and the team.
