28 Years Later is one of the most awaited horror movies of the year. It is the third part of the popular 28 Days Later film series, which began more than two decades ago. The movie will hit theaters in North America on June 20, and early predictions say it’s going to have a strong opening weekend at the box office.

According to Box Office Pro, the post-apocalyptic horror film is expected to make between $30 million and $40 million during its first weekend. That’s a big jump from what the previous movies earned when they were released.

Here’s a quick look at how much the earlier films made in their opening weekends:

  • 28 Days Later (2002) – $10.06 million
  • 28 Weeks Later (2007) – $9.8 million

If the current predictions are accurate, 28 Years Later could earn more than the combined total of the first two films during their opening weekends. This shows just how excited fans are to return to the terrifying world of the Rage virus.

A Long-Awaited Sequel

Like the upcoming Final Destination: Bloodlines, this movie comes out many years after the last one. It’s been 17 years since 28 Weeks Later was released in 2007. The new film is directed by Danny Boyle, who also directed the original 28 Days Later. Boyle is also famous for winning an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire.

Another familiar name returning to the project is Cillian Murphy, who starred in the original movie. This time, he joins the crew as an executive producer, bringing back some of the original creative energy that made the first film a success.

Story Overview

28 Years Later is set nearly three decades after the Rage virus escaped from a lab and caused chaos. Now, a few survivors have found safe places to live. One group has made a new home on a small island, connected to the mainland by just one secure road.

The story follows a father and son who leave the island to explore what’s left of the mainland. As they journey across the ruined land, they discover shocking secrets, strange wonders, and terrifying horrors. What they find may change everything they thought they knew about the virus and the world it destroyed.

Star Cast and Release

The film stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes in key roles. With such a strong cast, the film is expected to attract both long-time fans of the series and new audiences.

In addition to 28 Years Later, another horror sequel, M3GAN 2.0, is also coming out this month. It seems like a great time for horror movie lovers!

With early projections looking strong, 28 Years Later could be one of the biggest horror hits of the summer. Fans of the original films won’t want to miss this thrilling return to a world overrun by rage.
